8 posts in Forum from Buick Regal passes through customs to man pays $5,800 to build own Vette engine

There have been eight new publications added to the Forum. The first five are posted under the GM, Ford and Chrysler tab. The first article comes from the Detroit News. It reports that when the Buick Regal arrived at U.S. customs, they doubted if it was a Buick because of its elegance and beauty. To their amazement it was a Buick, but it also was an Opel Insigna, the 2009 European car of the year. The 2011 Buick Regal sounds like a great car, a great car that needs to be built in the U.S. The second article, also from the Detroit News, states that the big brother to the Jeep Grand Cherokee, the Dodge Durango sport-utility is also built at the Jefferson North plant in Detroit. While the Jeep is a two row, five passenger vehicle, the Durango adds a third row. The third article tells that in the Performance Build Center in Wixom, Michigan on Monday, Todd Schnitt was the first to take up GM on its offer to build his own engine. He is helping build a 638-horsepower supercharged small block engine for his 2011 Corvette ZR1. The fourth article comes from the Detroit News Washington Bureau reporting that General Motors Co. doesn’t plan to begin a “road show” and launch its public offering before the Nov. 2 midterm congressional elections. The fifth article comes from a Free Press Business Writer. It states that Dan “melon head” Akerson told General Motors employees on Thursday that he believed working with unions and appreciated the worldwide staff’s dedication in his first company-wide communication since becoming CEO on Wednesday. We’ll see how well he works with the UAW next year at contract time, that is if he is still CEO by then. With the way the turnover rate with CEOs has been at GM, who knows who will be CEO then.

Two new posts have been entered into the Open Discussion section. The first article comes from the Detroit News reporting that industry and state officials announced on Thursday that about 4,600 electric vehicle charging stations will be installed throughout the country under a federally funded program. The company building and installing the charging stations will be ChargePoint America. The second article comes from AOL Autos. It tells that getting into financial shape before a car purchase is a bit like training for a marathon. Either will be hard on you if you are not in good shape to begin with. The article gives 5 steps to boost your credit score, which is a must to help save you interest when you buy a new car.

One new post has been placed in the Social Security and Medicare category. The article comes from AOL News and tells that patience often pays, especially when it comes to Social Security Benefits. You can start collecting Social Security anytime after age 62, but for each year you wait, your payments will increase by 7% or 8%.
