7 posts in Forum from Chrysler dealers discuss investment needed to sell Fiat to Norman talks pay with Indy Stamping workers

There have been seven new publications added to the Forum. The first five are posted under the GM, Ford and Chrysler tab. The first article comes from the Detroit News reporting that about 400 Chrysler Group LLC dealers from across the United States are expected to gather at the Detroit Institute of Arts on Monday for an intensive session intended to help them decide whether to make the investment needed to sell the Fiat and Alfa brands. The second article, also from the Detroit News, states that the General Motors Minority Supplier Council and GM Minority Dealers Association, along with Pontiac area churches and the city of Pontiac, rolled out a different type of Dream Cruise on Sunday in its downtown business district. The third article comes from Free Press Business Writers telling that Dan “melon head” Akerson, GM’s new CEO, showed Thursday night at a send-off dinner for him and his wife in Washington that he is willing to fight for Detroit. After hearing someone say that they had not bought a domestic car or truck in 20 years, melon head Dan started lecturing the person about the quality and reliability of the new Buick Regal and the styling elements of the Cadillac CTS coupe. The fourth article comes from the Detroit Free Press and gives information on Dan “melon head” Akerson’s time at the Carlyle Group, where he honed his investment and turnaround skills. Now, let’s add it all up; the outgoing and the incoming CEO both have backgrounds in telecommunications as do a lot of top executives at GM and probably some board members. This shows that either all walks of the corporate world have executive positions that are interchangeable or that GM is going to have the best television and radio commercials ever. The fifth article comes from a Free Press Business Writer reporting that after hyping the Ford Fiesta subcompact car for more than a year, deliveries of the highly anticipated car to dealers and customers have been delayed both because of a hurricane and a part-quality issue.

One new post has been entered into the Open Discussion section. The article comes from the Indianapolis Star stating that Illinois businessman Justin Norman continued his effort to win over GM Indianapolis stamping plant workers, telling a gathering Sunday that skilled trades employees at his Chicago-area plant will earn nearly $100K this year. This is just the kind of news that the line worker wants to hear when they are offered substantially less. This article can also be found in UAW national, regional and local specific topics portion of the Forum.

One new post has been placed in the Opinion category. The article comes from the Detroit News telling that the 2011 Camaro improves upon an already great car and is a future classic.
