There have
been ten new publications added to the Forum. The first one is in the UAW
national, regional and local specific topics section. The article comes from
the Detroit News Reporting that United Auto Workers President Bob King this
month reiterated the union’s longstanding policy to ban nonunion vehicles on
UAW property, but did so in a more hands-on and publicly forceful fashion that
separates him from his predecessors. Way to go Bob!!!
There have
been seven new posts placed under the GM, Ford and Chrysler tab. The first
article comes from the Detroit News telling that Detroit’s history will cruise
down Woodward Avenue on Saturday (though this rolling party has been revving up
for weeks). Detroit’s future, however, arrives in October with Chevrolet’s
big-little compact, the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. Make no bones about it; this car
carries General Motors Co.’s future in its 15 cubic-foot trunk. The second
article, also from the Detroit News, states that by General Motors filing IPO
paperwork on Wednesday, just 13 months after emerging from bankruptcy through a
federal bailout, it pushes the company one step closer to luring new investors
and shedding government oversight that has divided taxpayers nationwide. The
third article reports that with General Motors back in the black in North
America, it is striving for a similar turnaround of its European operations.
The fourth article is another from the Detroit News telling that the management
shakeup at General Motors Co. continues. Chevrolet marketing chief Jim Campbell
has been reassigned and will be replaced by an executive from Hyundai Motor
America. The fifth article reports that just to whet the appetite of their
customers, Chrysler Group LLC on Thursday released the first teaser pictures of
their popular off-roader vehicle. Coming in the third quarter is the 2011 Jeep
Wrangler and the Wrangler Unlimited. The sixth article is a release from the
Associated Press giving more information on General Motors and their Chinese
partner SAIC planning joint development of fuel-efficient small engines and
transmissions. The seventh article comes from the Detroit News Finance Editor
telling now that the paperwork has been filed for GM’s initial stock offering,
the process takes on a life of its own. Listed in the article is a look at how
the process is expected to unfold.
One new post
has been entered into the Open Discussion section of the Forum. The article
comes from AOL Autos reporting that the world of auto parts is a murky one.
There are so many manufacturers and quite a range of costs that one can easily
be misled, and it is a situation that is only getting worse. Beware of cheap parts;
they could end up costing you in the long run.
One new post
has been added to the Opinion category and comes from the Detroit News
Washington Bureau. The article gives a little more information on South Korea
wanting the U.S. to ratify the free trade pact, saying that by doing so would
benefit both countries. South Korea should give us anything we want after
helping them when they were invaded by the North Koreans.
